Students given the tools to travel the world during Jan. 31 Global Education Fair

A Global Education Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 31, will equip 快活视频 students with all they need to know about upcoming study abroad opportunities that are part of IES Abroad鈥檚 鈥淭ake OFF鈥� program. The fair, which is open and free for students, employees and area residents, is designed to encourage students and faculty to internationalize their studies and research through a variety of study abroad opportunities, conferences and competitions.
Throughout the fair, scheduled from 12 to 4 p.m. in the Tompkins Hall ballroom, students will benefit from informational sessions and panels designed to help them weigh the pros and cons of study abroad programs, not to mention navigate securing financial aid, crafting effective scholarship essays, and preparing and packing for their study abroad adventures.
鈥淥ur 2018 fair really emphasizes the feedback that we have received from students in the past. Students would like more practical information on how to make study abroad more economically feasible. We hope our panels and mini-workshops will help,鈥� said Dr. Rhonda Collier, who leads the 快活视频 Global Office in addition to her duties as an associate professor of English.
The fair will feature students and faculty who will be on hand to share about their academic travel experiences in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. Representatives of the campus鈥� international study body and faculty will be present as well, thereby helping to celebrate the university鈥檚 cultural diversity.
In addition to international education programming, students can enter different raffles to be held during the event. One lucky student will win a $500 travel voucher, contributed by fair sponsor IES Abroad. In addition, 50 students with the proper credentials 鈥� a certified birth certificate and government-issued photo ID 鈥� will qualify for free passports to be raffled, thanks to funding provided by the Office of the President and the Global Office.
Students may enter the passport raffle prior to the event by visiting , but passport and travel voucher winners must be present at the fair when their names are drawn to win. Winners will be selected randomly throughout the afternoon.
During the 2016-17 academic year, nearly 50 Tuskegee students participated in study abroad programs that took them to four different continents and allowed them to participate in research and service-learning experiences, build networks and connect classroom principles with hands-on applications. These co-curricular experiences ultimately help students affirm their chosen career fields and equip them to be competitive in the global marketplace as they seek their first post-graduate job.
